The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Central and Eastern New Mexico
* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 330 PM until
1000 PM MDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
mph possible
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...Supercells should pose a threat for occasional severe hail
up to 1-2 inches in diameter this afternoon. Thunderstorms may
congeal into one or more clusters later this evening, with an
increased threat for severe/damaging winds up to 60-75 mph.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65
statute miles east and west of a line from 10 miles northwest of
Raton NM to 15 miles east southeast of Roswell NM. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
