   Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 357

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Northwest Iowa
     Northern Kansas
     Southwest Minnesota
     Nebraska
     Far Southeast South Dakota

   * Effective this Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning from 450 PM
     until 100 AM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
       to 2.5 inches in diameter possible
     Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
     A tornado or two possible

   SUMMARY...Severe storms are expected to develop along a front that
   extends across Nebraska into northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota,
   with the most intense storms capable of large hail and damaging
   winds. Clusters of storms should evolve this evening, with the
   severe threat potentially lingering into the overnight particularly
   across the southern half of Nebraska and possibly far northern
   Kansas.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75
   statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles northwest of
   Imperial NE to 15 miles southeast of Spencer IA. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
   favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
   Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
   weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
   warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
   tornadoes.
