   Areas affected...Southeast TN...northeast AL...northwest GA

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 324...

   Valid 252152Z - 252315Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 324
   continues.

   SUMMARY...A damaging-wind threat may spread east-southeastward into
   this evening.

DISCUSSION...A relatively organized and long-lived QLCS is moving
across northern AL and southeast TN late this afternoon. This system
has been responsible for some tree damage across southern middle TN,
and in the short term will continue moving across a moderately
unstable environment, with MLCAPE approaching 1000 J/kg. As a
result, damaging gusts will remain possible into early evening. A
few smaller mesovortices were also noted as the QLCS came within
close range of the KHTX radar, and these features may be capable of
producing areas of more concentrated wind damage and possibly a
   brief tornado.

Eventually, this system will encounter decreasing instability toward
the southeast corner of TN and adjacent north-central GA, with the
instability gradient having more of a northwest to southeast
orientation in this area. This may result in the system taking more
of a southeast movement, though the longevity of the severe threat
is uncertain. However, at least an isolated wind-damage threat may
spread east of WW 324, and local expansion of the watch may be
   needed.
